Watch out, hatas: former Top STL Planner (kind of like Top Chef, only with less TV time) Rollin Stanley is roaming the streets of downtown. I spotted him getting the tour of the new Left Bank Books, but he's on foot and could be anywhere by the time you read this. Home scouting good ideas for exurban Maryland?

I ran into Rollin a few times on the streets when working downtown, and he remembered me because I had involved myself in a local design charette for a transit stop, and spoke with him afterward for a bit. Unrealized potential in the Strategic Land Use plan and a planner with not only vision but passion for cities. His approach may have been too generic to some St. Louis purists, and ultimately a symbol of the ineffectual nature of Slay's administration regarding the rehabilitation of the city, but he offered promise. His still-vacant position is testament to the mayoral administration's lack of commitment to the city's vitality.
