On January 5, the look of STLtoday.com will change. Check out the static mockup of the new design. Personally, I'm underwhelmed.

Okay, so maybe the red and yellow are meant to lure McDonald's in as a title sponsor....and other than that? This looks remarkably the same as current product, which is underwhelming all on its own.

[Posted by Eric on Mon., Jan 2, 2006 at 11:11 PM]Some kinks to work out? As I check the page at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, there's a link under "Local News" to the following story:
Woman, son in path of development fight on
(Alone amid the flattened expanse that once was her neighborhood, Reba June Thompson keeps to her brick bungalow and hopes the Missouri Supreme Court will let her stay)
Now, we know from this morning's headline that this story is, in fact, old, that Mrs. Thompson has been paid $350K for her house (now demolished) and is living in, I believe, Mehlville. The story itself carries a tag, when you click through, indicating it originally ran on September 2, 2004. Why is it presented like new news?
