So the guy who lost the only race he was ever in is endorsing people? Mr. Smith, if I ever run for a political office and you feel the need to endorse some one, thanks but no thanks.

Um, wha? I believe there is evidence that plenty of people who go on to careers in elected office lose the first -- even the second and the third -- shots they take. The fact that, in this case, Jeff Smith came from nowhere and came damn near to taking away the presumptive Carnahan birthright says a lot about his future as a public servant. So, yeah, it makes sense to me to send a popular guy out to stump for someone who'd like to have that sheen rub off.

smith is practically a progressive celebrity. if i were the least qualified school board candidate, i'd want him out there stumping for me, too.
